Jharkhand Police have apprehended seven individuals linked to the killing of Giridih Sub-Registrar Baleshwar Patel in Ramgarh district. A blood-stained brick and a bamboo stick, believed to be the weapons used in the crime, were recovered. The incident occurred in Balsagara village due to a dispute over a piece of land.
Ramgarh Superintendent of Police Mukesh Kumar Lunayat revealed that the attack transpired on June 30 during a disagreement over an 11-decimal land parcel. Patel suffered severe injuries and succumbed to them in the hospital. A murder case was filed at Mandu police station based on the victim’s wife’s account, leading to the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
The SIT, aided by technical evidence, video recordings, local intelligence, and witness testimonies, successfully arrested the seven suspects. The arrested individuals, including Santosh Kumar Sao, Sadhu Sao, Shakuntala Devi, Ruby Kumari, Vinay Kumar, Pooja Kumari, and Laxmi Devi, were found in possession of the alleged murder weapons. Furthermore, forensic experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory in Ranchi collected evidence from the crime scene to aid the ongoing investigation.
Patel, who was in his native village for the Hul Diwas holiday, was attacked while inspecting a borewell and submersible pump on the disputed land. The police assured that the investigation is ongoing, and appropriate legal measures will be taken as more facts surface during the probe.
