Jharkhand’s Ishan Kishan showcased exceptional power-hitting by scoring a 33-ball century against Karnataka in a Vijay Hazare Trophy game in Ahmedabad. This remarkable innings stands as the second-fastest hundred by an Indian in List A cricket, narrowly missing the national record set on the same day by Bihar’s Sakibul Gani in 32 deliveries against Arunachal Pradesh.
Kishan’s recent outstanding performance continues a streak of success for the left-handed batsman. Recently, he surprised many by being included in India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, following his captaincy of Jharkhand to their first Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy victory.
During the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Kishan excelled by scoring 517 runs and playing a crucial role in the final against Haryana, where he smashed a rapid century off just 45 balls. With this feat, he became the second player to achieve a century in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy final and recorded the third-fastest century in a men’s T20 final. His five centuries in the tournament also tie him with Abhishek Sharma for the most hundreds in SMAT history.
Kishan’s explosive talent is not limited to domestic cricket, as he holds the record for the fastest double century in One-Day Internationals, achieved in 126 balls against Bangladesh in 2022. His recent performances have earned him a spot back in the international scene, with a call-up to India’s T20I squad for the series against New Zealand and the T20 World Cup in February 2026.
