J&K’s Anti-Narcotic Task Force announced the arrest of an absconding accused from Maharashtra. The accused, Arif Ibrahim Sayyed, was wanted in connection with a case registered under the NDPS Act. Despite efforts to evade arrest for 2-3 years, Sayyed was apprehended in Mumbra, Maharashtra, with the help of local authorities.

During the investigation, evidence linking Sayyed to the narcotics supply chain emerged. Arrest warrants were obtained from a Jammu court to secure his presence before the law. Following specific intelligence, the ANTF team located and arrested Sayyed in Maharashtra on February 14, with the assistance of local police.

Sayyed’s arrest is seen as a significant step in dismantling the inter-state narcotics network associated with the case. The ANTF is conducting further investigations to uncover additional links and identify other individuals involved in the drug trafficking chain. The agency reaffirmed its commitment to combatting drug trafficking and ensuring that all offenders face justice.
