J&K L-G Manoj Sinha highlighted the need for a united front in tackling drug addiction during a padyatra in Anantnag as part of the “Drug-Free J&K Campaign”. Sinha urged all sections of society to speak out against the perils of drug addiction, emphasizing a comprehensive societal approach. He stressed the connection between drug abuse and terrorism, calling for a joint effort to combat both issues.
The L-G underscored the infiltration of drugs from neighboring countries into Jammu & Kashmir, funding terrorism and leading to narco-terrorism. Sinha emphasized the intertwined nature of drug addiction and terrorism, vowing to continue the fight until both are eradicated. He urged law enforcement and civil authorities to extend anti-drug efforts to every part of Anantnag district.
Sinha reported significant progress in combating drug smuggling in Anantnag, with numerous arrests and seizures. He assured the community of continued efforts to eliminate drug networks entirely. The L-G recognized the pivotal role of women and youth in the anti-drug campaign, calling on them to guide and support individuals at risk of substance abuse.
Religious leaders, teachers, and sports figures were urged to dedicate themselves to raising awareness and promoting a drug-free environment in Jammu & Kashmir. Sinha emphasized the collective responsibility of society in fighting drug peddling and supporting affected youth. He reiterated his commitment to providing justice to victims of terrorism and inaugurated sports infrastructure projects to engage youth positively.
