Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat emphasized the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s efforts in combating narcotics during a press conference. The ongoing ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan’ has seen significant success since its launch on April 11 under the leadership of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha. J&K Police has intensified actions against drug trafficking networks, resulting in a notable increase in property attachments related to drug crimes.
The DGP highlighted the achievements of the anti-drug operations, revealing a substantial rise in property attachments linked to drug trafficking. J&K Police’s proactive stance against narco-terrorism has led to a surge in NDPS cases and arrests. The campaign has resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of narcotics and psychotropic substances, with preventive measures taken against habitual drug offenders.
The police’s relentless efforts have led to the identification and attachment of properties associated with narcotics trade. Noteworthy achievements include the attachment of high-value properties by Anantnag and Kulgam Police. Additionally, illegal properties funded by drug proceeds have been demolished, and illicit cultivation of poppy and cannabis has been eradicated. Awareness programs and strict actions against violators have been pivotal in curbing drug-related activities in the region.
The DGP issued a strong warning against Pakistan-based drug trafficker Shehzad Bhatti, emphasizing the continuous efforts to dismantle such networks. He commended LG Sinha’s leadership and the community’s active involvement in making the ‘Nasha Mukt J&K Abhiyaan’ a collective movement against drugs in J&K.
