The Jammu and Kashmir Special Investigation Agency (SIA) announced that it has obtained an Interpol Red Corner Notice against a Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist linked to the 2013 terror attack in the Hygam area of Sopore sub-division.
This achievement marks a significant breakthrough in the SIA Kashmir’s ongoing efforts against terrorism. The Red Corner Notice allows international law enforcement agencies to locate, detain, and extradite the accused, Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo, to India for trial.
Imtiyaz Ahmad Kandoo, a designated Hizbul Mujahideen terrorist, is the main accused in the 2013 Tarzoo (Hygam) terrorist attack case. He is currently evading arrest and is believed to have fled to Pakistan, with a history of involvement in multiple terror-related cases.
The SIA Kashmir’s meticulous investigation revealed Kandoo’s central role in the Hygam attack and his participation in various terrorist activities. The agency’s successful issuance of the Red Corner Notice highlights its commitment to pursuing terrorists and ensuring accountability for acts of terrorism.
