The Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC) has declared that the voluntary shutdown and wheel jam in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) will persist, with a significant number of people participating in the protest sit-ins. Emphasizing the importance of their demands, JAAC stated that they are resolute in their struggle and will not compromise on key points during negotiations. They urged the public to join a protest scheduled for July 23, highlighting it as a crucial day for their cause.
Last week, JAAC postponed its planned long march until July 21, granting the Pakistani government a final chance to address their grievances amidst the ongoing unrest in PoK, which has resulted in over 30 casualties. Despite mobilizing numerous supporters for a march towards Muzaffarabad after the July 14 deadline, the protest was halted following discussions between Pakistani authorities, including Army Chief Asim Munir, and JAAC representatives like Umar Nazir Kashmiri.
If substantial measures are not taken, JAAC has warned of resuming the long march towards Muzaffarabad this week and maintaining the ongoing sit-ins across PoK.
