The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau apprehended a Junior Engineer in Reasi district for soliciting and receiving a bribe. Rahul Gandotra, a JE stationed at the BDO Office Gulabgarh Mahore, Reasi, was taken into custody for accepting an Rs 8,000 bribe, as confirmed by the ACB statement. Notably, three corruption cases are already pending against him.
An FIR was lodged by the ACB Jammu against Rahul Gandotra under the Prevention of Corruption Act for coercing a bribe from a complainant. The accused JE demanded the bribe for processing a Bill related to the RDD Work carried out by the complainant. Upon the complainant’s refusal to pay the bribe, the matter was reported to the Anti-Corruption Bureau for legal action against the accused public servant.
Following a discreet verification, a trap operation was set up by the ACB team, resulting in the arrest of the accused while accepting the bribe. The arrest was made in accordance with the law, and the bribe amount was recovered on the spot in the presence of independent witnesses. Additionally, a search was conducted at the accused’s residence in Jammu, with three FIRs already filed against him under the Prevention of Corruption Act at Police Station ACB Udhampur.
