Justice Soumen Sen took office as the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court on Saturday. The swearing-in ceremony was conducted at the Raj Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram, with Kerala Governor Rajendra Arlekar administering the oath in the presence of High Court judges and other dignitaries.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and Governor Rajendra Arlekar welcomed Chief Justice Sen with a flower bouquet following the ceremony. The appointment of Justice Sen as Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court was officially announced by the Centre, based on the recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium led by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant.
Chief Justice Soumen Sen, born on July 27, 1965, completed his education in Kolkata and began his legal career in 1991. He practiced law for nearly twenty years, specializing in civil, constitutional, banking, and arbitration cases, representing entities like the Reserve Bank of India and SEBI. Justice Sen was previously the Chief Justice of the High Court of Meghalaya before assuming his new role in Kerala.
