Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao has alleged irregularities in the e-auction of mining blocks in Telangana’s Suryapet district. He called for an independent inquiry and cancellation of the tenders due to procedural lapses and legal violations. Rao criticized the Mines and Geology Department for lacking transparency in the auction process.
Rama Rao highlighted that reserved forest land falls within the mining blocks, but the tender documents did not include essential technical details. He also pointed out the absence of required geological reports, raising legal concerns. Despite pending legal scrutiny and alleged non-compliance with court directions, the auction proceeded, leading to questions about the selection of preferred bidders.
Expressing environmental concerns, Rao emphasized the need for a No Objection Certificate from the Forest Department before conducting such auctions. He demanded the suspension of current proceedings, tender cancellation, and a thorough investigation. Rao urged the government to reissue tenders only after completing necessary surveys and obtaining all clearances transparently.
Copies of Rao’s letter were also sent to Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and the Chief Secretary.
