Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) President Kapil Dev expressed confidence in India’s young golfers for the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. He mentioned the support the governing body would provide to the athletes. The Indian Golf Union (IGU) unveiled a strong six-member squad for the event, featuring experienced Olympians and promising talents like Yuvraj Sandhu from PGTI.
Kapil Dev highlighted the diminishing gap between established players and emerging talents in golf. He praised the young golfers for their consistent performances and urged them to maintain composure during crucial moments. While Kapil Dev won’t be present at the Asian Games, the PGTI will send a team to offer support and comfort to the players.
Yuvraj Sandhu, leading the Indian men’s squad, is currently ranked 451st globally. The women’s team will be spearheaded by Aditi Ashok, ranked 135th worldwide, alongside Diksha Dagar and Pranavi Urs. Aditi had previously secured an individual silver at the 2023 Hangzhou Asiad. India has a successful history in golf at the Asian Games, with multiple gold and silver medals in past editions.
