Filmmaker Karan Johar and director Neeraj Ghaywan recently shared mutual admiration on social media following Homebound’s absence from the Oscars. Johar expressed pride in the team and Ghaywan, thanking him for the opportunity to be part of the project. In response, Ghaywan thanked Johar, describing him as a crucial support throughout the journey.
Homebound, which premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival last year, garnered acclaim and later received support from Dharma Productions. The film, featuring Vishal Jethwa and Ishaan Khatter in lead roles with Janhvi Kapoor in a cameo, was well-received in India despite a limited theatrical release. Notably, the last Indian film to be nominated in this category was Aamir Khan’s Lagaan in 2001.
The Academy Awards ceremony is scheduled for March 15 at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
