Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor is set to return to the world of OTT platforms after a six-year hiatus with the upcoming series ‘Brown’. The show’s teaser, released recently, showcases Kapoor in a compelling and transformative role as Rita Brown, a police officer in the Kolkata Police Force.
‘Brown’ is a neo-noir psychological crime thriller that unfolds against the backdrop of a morally complex Kolkata. The series promises a gripping narrative with gritty visuals and an emotionally charged ambiance, elevating it beyond a typical murder mystery. Directed by Abhinay Deo, the show marks Kapoor’s venture into a darker realm, portraying a multifaceted cop grappling with inner turmoil while solving heinous crimes.
Known for her iconic roles in the 90s, Karisma Kapoor has been selective in her recent projects. She gained fame for her on-screen chemistry with Govinda in several blockbuster films. The actress recently reminisced about her teenage days while shooting the popular song ‘Husn Hai Suhana’ with Govinda for the movie ‘Coolie No. 1’.
During a recent appearance on ‘India’s Best Dancer Season 5’, Karisma was moved by a contestant’s energetic performance on the same track, evoking nostalgic memories. She shared her initial apprehension and shyness while dancing alongside Govinda and working with choreographer Ganesh Acharya for the first time during the song’s filming.
Recalling her experience, Karisma mentioned how director David Dhawan provided reassurance on set and introduced her to Ganesh Acharya, who was then an upcoming choreographer. The series ‘Brown’ is scheduled to premiere on ZEE5, showcasing Karisma Kapoor in a new light, embodying a character that delves into the depths of darkness and resilience.
