The Karnataka BJP has urged for an investigation by a sitting High Court judge or the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into what they claim is an excise scam in the state. Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra, along with JD(S), led a protest near the Vidhana Soudha, alleging corruption within the state government. The protest, attended by various leaders from both parties, highlighted concerns over the Excise Minister’s alleged involvement in the scam.
Vijayendra emphasized that officials were reportedly required to pay hefty bribes to secure postings in the Excise Department, leading to unauthorized liquor sales in rural areas. He criticized the government for prioritizing revenue over public welfare, stating that such actions have tarnished Karnataka’s governance. The BJP demanded the resignation of the Excise Minister and a thorough investigation into the matter.
Accusing the Chief Minister of mistreating the Governor and lacking moral authority, Vijayendra criticized the government’s behavior during the joint session of the Legislature. He condemned the government’s plans to protest at Raj Bhavan, questioning the integrity behind such actions. The BJP, alongside JD(S), reiterated their stance on various issues and called for accountability within the state administration.
