The Karnataka BJP criticized the Congress for choosing to prioritize the visit of Rahul Gandhi over meeting German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Bengaluru. R. Ashoka, the Karnataka Opposition leader, expressed disappointment at Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar’s absence during the German Chancellor’s visit.
Ashoka highlighted the significance of the German Chancellor’s visit for investment, industry, and growth in Karnataka. He emphasized that the decision to prioritize Rahul Gandhi over a foreign leader reflected poorly on the state’s global image. The BJP stressed the need for leadership that prioritizes the state’s interests over political considerations.
German Chancellor Merz and his delegation visited Bengaluru, engaging with various institutions before departing from Kempegowda International Airport. Karnataka Minister M.B. Patil bid farewell to the delegation at the airport, underscoring the importance of diplomatic ties with Germany. Earlier, Merz was warmly received by State Minister M.B. Patil and other officials upon his arrival in Bengaluru.
