Karnataka BJP leaders were detained by the police in Bengaluru while marching towards the KPCC headquarters to protest against the Congress for politicizing the NEET issue and neglecting the state’s concerns. Congress workers targeted senior BJP MLA B.P. Harish, surrounding him and shouting slogans as he arrived at the office.

The police intervened as Congress workers allegedly threw eggs at Harish, escorting him to safety and dispersing the protesters. Meanwhile, BJP MLAs and MLCs, including Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Assembly R. Ashoka and Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, were detained by the police near the Cantonment area during their march from Vidhana Soudha to the KPCC headquarters.

R. Ashoka, addressing the media, criticized the Congress for focusing on protests in Delhi over the NEET issue instead of addressing the severe drought affecting Karnataka. He accused the state government, including Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, of neglecting the crisis and engaging in political activities in the national capital.

Ashoka demanded immediate drought declaration in the state, calling for funds allocation for drinking water works in every Assembly constituency and taluk. He also urged the formation of taluk-level drought task forces to manage the situation effectively. Targeting Congress for its Delhi protests, Ashoka accused the party of seeking political advantage and criticized Rahul Gandhi for allegedly overlooking Karnataka’s issues.
