Karnataka BJP President B.Y. Vijayendra visited the family of Shivaji Rao Bairoji, who was recently murdered in Haveri district. He, along with former Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai, announced an agitation in Haveri on July 16. Vijayendra expressed concerns over rising violence against Hindus in Karnataka since the Congress came to power.
Vijayendra alleged that attacks on Hindus have increased and urged Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to ensure their protection. The BJP plans to hold a protest in Haveri against the alleged assaults on Hindus and the state government’s law and order management. Referring to another incident in Naregal, Vijayendra highlighted an attack on individuals near a mosque.
The BJP leader claimed that the murder of Shivaji Rao was not a personal dispute but part of a larger conspiracy. He criticized the state government for its alleged insensitivity towards the victims’ families and accused it of minority appeasement politics. Vijayendra demanded police protection for the victim’s family and urged for immediate relief measures.
Vijayendra also criticized the re-arrest of a Hindutva activist, alleging selective targeting of Hindu activists by the state government. He emphasized the government’s responsibility to ensure the safety of all citizens, irrespective of their background.
