The state government is actively coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs to ensure the well-being and return of those stranded in conflict zones of the Middle East.
Around 30 individuals from Ballari are currently marooned in Arab countries, with ongoing efforts to bring them back. Siddaramaiah confirmed the safety of Indians in Dubai amidst the prevailing circumstances. Discussions have taken place with officials to safeguard Kannadigas residing in Arab nations.
The Chief Minister mentioned the temporary closure of Dubai airport due to the situation and plans to facilitate the return of stranded individuals once flight operations resume. Legislative Council member S.L. Bhoje Gowda, currently in Dubai, assured his safety to Siddaramaiah during a phone conversation.
Expressing his disapproval of the US actions, Siddaramaiah criticized the attack on Iran as unwarranted. He highlighted the contradictory nature of the US advocating peace while engaging in warfare. Additionally, he extended condolences and prayers for the late Iranian President Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Siddaramaiah personally contacted Kannadigas stranded in Dubai due to escalating tensions between Israel and Iran, assuring them of the state’s support for their safe return. He emphasized close coordination between the Chief Secretary and External Affairs Ministry officials to oversee the situation and facilitate repatriation.
The Chief Minister acknowledged the secure relocation of Kannadigas in the Middle East to safe havens. He urged against panic, ensuring continuous government efforts for the safe return of all stranded individuals. Addressing queries on a potential electricity tariff hike in April, Siddaramaiah clarified that no such proposal is currently under consideration by the state government.
