Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar highlighted the personal nature of religion, emphasizing his respect for all faiths. He stated that his focus is on safeguarding the state’s interests, seeking blessings from leaders of various religious mutts.
Shivakumar, speaking near the Nonavinakere Sri Kadu Siddeshwara Mutt, expressed his long-standing association with the place, visiting it for over 25 years. He clarified that his visits were not as Chief Minister but as a devotee seeking divine connection and guidance.
The Chief Minister denied taking any vows at the Mallaghatta Gangadhareeshwara temple, instead offering prayers for the well-being of the people and the state’s prosperity. He also mentioned ongoing development projects worth Rs 35 crore in the Mallaghat region, focusing on local consultation for further initiatives.
Shivakumar, after inspecting development works at Burudeghatta Mallaghatta lake, shared his history of visiting the Gangadhareeshwara temple and his commitment to the region’s progress. He highlighted completed projects benefiting farmers and residents, including canal systems and community facilities.
During his oath-taking ceremony, Shivakumar paid tribute to Sri Veera Gangadhara Swamiji before assuming office, holding the Constitution and invoking the spiritual guidance of Veera Gangadhara Ajja. His actions were accompanied by loud support from his followers.
