Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar recently led a strategic consultation involving over 150 Global Capability Centres (GCCs) to reinforce the state’s position as a prime hub for multinational innovation and technology. The event, named “KATALYST CONNECT: The Chief Minister’s Meet with Global Capability Centre Leaders,” was part of the state government’s KATALYST initiative to enhance the business environment for GCCs. Prior to the meeting, the Chief Minister visited Target in India, the Global Capability Centre of US retail giant Target Corporation.
During his visit, CM Shivakumar engaged with Target’s leadership and assessed their work across various sectors like artificial intelligence, technology, finance, and more. This visit underscored Karnataka’s increasing role in facilitating global innovation for multinational corporations. The consultation brought together top executives from major multinational firms, government representatives, and industry stakeholders to explore the future of Karnataka’s GCC ecosystem.
Discussions at the meeting revolved around key areas such as artificial intelligence, research and development, talent development, and industry-academia collaboration. The focus was on enhancing the GCC investments beyond Bengaluru and strengthening ties between startups and GCCs. Chief Minister Shivakumar emphasized the state’s commitment to fostering a conducive environment for businesses to innovate, access top-notch talent, and expand globally. Karnataka aims to attract 500 new GCCs by 2029, creating significant job opportunities and boosting economic growth.
