Avoiding direct responses to questions on his continuation as Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah assured reporters that he would address the issue soon. The Chief Minister paid tribute to former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, emphasizing Nehru’s significant role in India’s development.
Karnataka Food and Civil Supplies Minister K.H. Muniyappa expressed confidence in Siddaramaiah’s leadership and hinted at clarity after a breakfast meeting convened by the Chief Minister. Muniyappa, a senior Congress leader from the Dalit community, emphasized his loyalty to the party’s decisions. Meanwhile, Congress MLA H.C. Balakrishna reiterated his support for Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar as the next Chief Minister, highlighting the importance of party leadership’s approval.
In a different perspective, Congress MLA H.D. Thammaiah suggested that Siddaramaiah might meet the Governor, sparking further speculation about a potential resignation. Opposition leader Chalavadi Narayanaswamy mocked the Congress party’s internal dynamics, predicting Shivakumar’s ascension to the Chief Minister’s post. BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra criticized the Karnataka government’s performance under Siddaramaiah’s leadership, alleging financial mismanagement and predicting the Congress party’s decline.
