In a significant move, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah announced his resignation during a breakfast meeting at his official residence ‘Kaveri’ in Bengaluru. The CM’s office confirmed that Siddaramaiah would visit Lok Bhavan at 2:30 pm and hold a press conference at his other official residence, ‘Krishna,’ at 3 pm. State Minister H.K. Patil stated that Siddaramaiah would appoint Shivakumar as the new CM.
Sources revealed that Siddaramaiah made the announcement while having breakfast with his cabinet colleagues, expressing his intention to resign by 3 p.m. He appeared composed and mentioned heading to Lok Bhavan in the afternoon to submit his resignation. Congress insiders indicated that Siddaramaiah would propose Shivakumar’s name at the Congress Legislature Party Meeting.
Amid speculation on leadership change, Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM Shivakumar met over breakfast at ‘Kaveri.’ Shivakumar, a strong contender for the CM post, received a warm welcome from Siddaramaiah, touching his feet as a mark of respect. The released photos of their interaction aimed to convey unity within the Karnataka Congress leadership.
Several MLAs close to Siddaramaiah also attended the breakfast meeting, along with cabinet ministers. Despite Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot’s absence from Bengaluru, Siddaramaiah was instructed to submit his resignation as planned. Congress sources assured that the resignation process would proceed according to the set timeline.
