Amidst the leadership changes in Karnataka Congress, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar highlighted his dedication to all party tasks, not just speeches, after meeting AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge. Shivakumar stressed that regardless of positions, they are first and foremost party workers, having engaged in various party duties like flag installation and garbage cleaning.
Shivakumar’s statements may spark discussions amidst the ongoing leadership struggles within the party. He expressed reluctance to disclose personal gains from his efforts, urging the media to report accurately without pressuring him for responses. Shivakumar also mentioned that senior leaders would provide guidance within the organization.
During his meeting with Kharge, Shivakumar avoided political discussions, focusing instead on concerns about potential changes to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA). He opposed proposals to alter the scheme’s funding structure, emphasizing the importance of protecting rural development initiatives like MGNREGA, initiated during Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh’s tenure.
