The Karnataka Cyber Crime Police are intensifying their probe into the dissemination of counterfeit bikini videos and photos featuring actress Rukmini Vasanth, known for her role in “Kantara Chapter-2”. They have requested information from Meta regarding the social media accounts linked to this incident. An FIR has been lodged against 29 social media accounts, including 9 Instagram accounts, 14 X accounts, and 6 Facebook pages, by the Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police.
Investigators have contacted Meta to obtain details about all 29 social media handles mentioned in the actress’s complaint. Rukmini’s statement has been recorded by the police. Initial findings suggest that the culprits utilized artificial intelligence (AI) technology to produce and circulate the fabricated images, which gained traction on social platforms. Authorities are treating the investigation with gravity and are poised to take stringent action against those responsible for generating and spreading the manipulated content.
Following the actress’s complaint to the Bengaluru Cyber Crime Police Station, alleging the use of AI and deepfake technology to create fake visuals by superimposing her face onto another person’s body, a case has been registered. The investigation, conducted under relevant sections of the Information Technology Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), is underway. Rukmini emphasized that the incident caused her significant distress and aimed to malign her reputation deliberately.
Expressing her dismay over the AI-generated bikini materials falsely attributed to her that circulated widely on social media, Rukmini clarified their inauthenticity and urged against the misuse of AI for malicious purposes. She emphasized the need for responsible use of AI and announced the initiation of legal and cybercrime actions against the perpetrators behind the fake content. The actress implored the public not to propagate such falsified material on social media platforms.
