Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President, D.K. Shivakumar, highlighted the positive impact of the Congress government’s guarantee schemes in the state. He expressed confidence in electoral outcomes and discussed results in other states. Shivakumar mentioned that the guarantee schemes played a crucial role in the favorable bye-election results in Karnataka. He also expressed confidence in the Congress party’s prospects in Kerala.
Responding to queries about the reduced victory margin in Davanagere South, Shivakumar acknowledged the impact of SDPI votes. He noted that despite some confusion, they were confident of a comfortable win. Regarding the SDPI’s role, he refrained from further comments, acknowledging the party’s influence on minority votes. Shivakumar assured that the election results would not bring significant changes to Karnataka, emphasizing the government’s stability.
Shivakumar discussed the UDF alliance’s performance in Kerala, citing the desire for change among voters after the LDF’s 10-year rule. He described the results in Tamil Nadu as surprising, highlighting a shift in the political landscape. Shivakumar refrained from commenting on the absence of Rahul Gandhi during campaigning in Tamil Nadu, stating they followed the high command’s directives.
Regarding celebrity influence on voting patterns, Shivakumar noted a higher-than-expected shift in votes. He expressed disappointment over the Congress party’s performance in Assam, attributing the results to strategic consolidation of minority votes during constituency delimitation. Shivakumar criticized the alleged misuse of power in West Bengal, claiming systematic misuse of authority and deletion of over two lakh votes impacting the election outcome.
