Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar criticized the BJP, calling them the “architect of Operation Lotus” and accusing them of engaging in horse-trading. He stated that the Congress would not tolerate such actions. Responding to media queries, Shivakumar mentioned that political parties often face the threat of horse-trading and that it is their responsibility to support visiting Odisha MLAs.
Shivakumar highlighted the fear of Operation Lotus ahead of the Rajya Sabha elections and the pressure faced by their MLAs from Odisha. He noted the arrival of around 14–15 MLAs and the united front against potential political maneuvers. Shivakumar emphasized the need to respect the party president’s directives and ensure the well-being of the visiting MLAs, who are reportedly content with the arrangements.
When questioned about his role and potential political aspirations, Shivakumar remained non-committal, stating that results follow hard work. He expressed readiness to wait for outcomes rather than speculate on personal ambitions. The decision on when the MLAs would return was indicated to be under consideration by the party leadership.
