Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar chose not to address speculations about a leadership change in the state during Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s Delhi visit. Siddaramaiah confirmed his summons by the national leadership for a meeting in Delhi at 11 a.m. on Tuesday. At a press conference, Shivakumar, also the state Congress chief, refrained from discussing the Chief Minister’s post discussions during Siddaramaiah’s trip, stating he was unaware of the issue.
Amid rumors of political developments, Shivakumar mentioned he would travel to Delhi if called upon by the party leadership. He emphasized the party’s readiness to heed the party’s summons, indicating a willingness to go if Congress General Secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala requested his presence in Delhi.
When questioned about Congress guarantee schemes in light of inflation, Shivakumar contrasted BJP’s caste and religion-based politics with Congress’s focus on people’s welfare. He highlighted the party’s commitment to policies that prioritize people’s lives and hard work over divisive tactics.
Shivakumar, in response to BJP President Nitin Nabin’s directive to regain power in Karnataka by 2028, expressed confidence in Congress’s ability to retain power. He recalled a previous prediction where he foresaw Congress winning 136 seats against BJP’s 122, reiterating his belief that he and the Congress party would reclaim power in Karnataka in 2028.
