Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President, D.K. Shivakumar, minimized the significance of his meeting with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s close aide and Public Works Department Minister, Satish Jarkiholi. The state Congress is experiencing rapid internal developments amidst criticism over actions against minority leaders.
Jarkiholi and Shivakumar held discussions at the Deputy CM’s government residence in Bengaluru. A group of ministers during a Cabinet meeting opposed actions against two minority MLCs, fearing alienation of the Muslim community, while another group supported the move. The meeting between Shivakumar and Jarkiholi is seen as significant in this context.
Shivakumar mentioned that the meeting focused on party affairs and collaboration for the party’s benefit. He emphasized the need for unity within the party to regain power in Karnataka by 2028. The discussion also touched on strategies to ease traffic congestion in Bengaluru, particularly on the Nelamangala-Goraguntepalya route.
Regarding a possible Cabinet reshuffle and a visit to Delhi, Shivakumar highlighted the ongoing election process as the current priority. He and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah are set to attend the ‘Bricks to Bengaluru’ event in Delhi, representing the state at a gathering of industry representatives and dignitaries.
