Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has reassured that the state government, led by the Congress, is dedicated to filling vacant positions in a fair and corruption-free manner. He encouraged the youth to stay optimistic, emphasizing the government’s commitment to addressing their issues. Shivakumar, speaking near the Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium in Bengaluru, highlighted the government’s efforts to address the concerns of the youth and ensure transparent recruitment processes.
In response to queries regarding protests by youth in Dharwad demanding government job placements, Shivakumar criticized the previous BJP government for failing to fill vacancies and mentioned the government’s focus on prioritizing recruitment. He outlined the government’s recruitment strategy, involving institutions like the Karnataka Public Service Commission, to fill positions in various departments, including education and health. Additionally, he mentioned initiatives like the Yuvanidhi scheme aimed at empowering unemployed youth.
Regarding the expansion of the Bengaluru Metro network to 175 kilometers by 2027, Shivakumar affirmed ongoing surveys and pledged to fulfill expansion commitments. He expressed intentions to discuss the double-decker project with the Union Minister to ensure the network’s growth for public benefit. Addressing concerns about pending Bills and financial assessments, Shivakumar highlighted challenges arising from past project approvals and financial mismanagement, emphasizing the need for prudent financial planning.
Shivakumar acknowledged the protests by contractors against the government and indicated plans to engage with them on the matter. The article also referenced recent protests by students and unemployed youths in Dharwad, demanding immediate recruitment to fill vacant government positions. The opposition leader, R. Ashoka, criticized the state government for its alleged failure to address unemployment despite having approval to fill thousands of vacant posts, citing a significant number of unfilled government positions in Karnataka.
