Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar expressed satisfaction with AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge’s commitment to resolving the leadership matter in the state. The assurance follows ongoing speculation within the Karnataka Congress regarding leadership. Public Works Department Minister Satish Jarkiholi shared that Kharge had conveyed a decision on the leadership matter and pledged a prompt resolution.
Shivakumar, speaking at the Karnataka State Higher Education Council in Bengaluru, welcomed the development when questioned by reporters. Addressing reports and social media discussions on the Chief Minister’s position, Shivakumar mentioned being unaware of any details. He also responded to queries about the recent violence during a Shivaji Jayanti procession in Bagalkot, stating his intent to gather information on the incident.
In response to concerns about compensating victims of the Bagalkot violence, Shivakumar indicated that a decision would be made following reports from officials. Regarding BJP MLA Dheeraj Muniraju’s denial of fund-related allegations, Shivakumar deferred further discussion on the matter. Earlier, Jarkiholi had disclosed that Kharge assured him of a resolution on the leadership issue, without specifying a timeline for implementation.
Jarkiholi, along with a group of MLAs, met Kharge in Delhi to seek clarity on the leadership situation in Karnataka. They emphasized the need for a swift resolution to the leadership ambiguity in the state. Jarkiholi highlighted the importance of addressing the prolonged uncertainty over leadership promptly to safeguard the party’s interests and expressed optimism for a swift resolution.
