Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar stated that it is acceptable for affluent individuals to voluntarily withdraw from the state’s guarantee schemes. He clarified that the government has no plans to discontinue any programs. Shivakumar addressed concerns about the misuse of guarantee scheme funds, emphasizing the importance of preventing such occurrences.

Certain beneficiaries, including government employees and IT professionals, have expressed that they do not require the benefits of guarantee schemes. Shivakumar highlighted instances where funds were withdrawn in the names of deceased beneficiaries, stressing the need to address this issue promptly. Despite challenges, the government is committed to providing these schemes without any interruptions.

Shivakumar refuted claims that development projects were being hindered due to guarantee scheme expenditures. He assured that the government would announce various development initiatives in the upcoming budget. The Deputy CM criticized the central government for allegedly inadequate support to Karnataka but affirmed that the state government would efficiently manage the schemes.
