Karnataka Education Minister, Madhu Bangarappa, criticized the BJP for supporting students wearing saffron shawls to schools amidst the state government’s permission for hijabs and other religious symbols in educational institutions. He accused the Opposition of misleading students during an event inspection at Freedom Park in Shivamogga.
Bangarappa launched a scathing political attack on the BJP, condemning their stance on issues like the “saffron shawl campaign” in schools as politically motivated. He highlighted the party’s focus on communal topics rather than addressing critical student concerns, labeling it as irresponsible politics.
The minister raised concerns about the NEET examination paper leak affecting 25 lakh students and allegedly leading to five student deaths. He also criticized Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s handling of the situation, emphasizing the government’s commitment to quality education for all communities.
Shivamogga is gearing up for a significant event on June 1 to launch Karnataka Public Schools (KPS), with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah set to inaugurate the program. Bangarappa revealed plans to establish 19 KPS schools in Shivamogga district alone, each costing approximately Rs 3.5 crore, with a focus on enhancing educational standards and student welfare.
