Karnataka’s Chief Electoral Officer, V. Anbu Kumar, addressed allegations of irregularities in the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, stating that the process strictly adheres to Election Commission of India guidelines. He refuted claims of collusion with the Congress government, emphasizing that the exercise is conducted as per protocol. Kumar mentioned that Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have been distributing Enumeration Forms door-to-door, with corrective actions taken for reported lapses.
The CEO declined to comment on demands to halt the SIR exercise by the NDA, assuring a thorough review of complaints from BJP and JD-S Union ministers. He mentioned that complaints regarding the involvement of schoolchildren in the process will be investigated. With over 59,000 BLOs involved in the logistical operation, Kumar highlighted the timely distribution of Enumeration Forms and the absence of significant complaints on form accuracy.
Anbu Kumar assured that the SIR process in Karnataka is lawfully executed, with meticulous attention to complaints and adherence to ECI directives. He addressed concerns about the distribution of permanent residence certificates, stating they will be verified in the subsequent phase. Responding to allegations of irregularities, Kumar affirmed that all complaints are being individually assessed and reported to the ECI for transparency and compliance.
