The Karnataka government, led by the Congress, has stated its commitment to assisting the Tibetan community residing in the state. Minister Madhu Bangarappa, responsible for School Education and Literacy, expressed this during the 55th anniversary celebration of the Gaden Shartse Thoesam Norling School in the Tibetan Colony at Mundgod. He assured ongoing support to the Tibetan community, considering it a duty and an honor to serve them.
Bangarappa conveyed his well wishes to the students, emphasizing the importance of a future grounded in education, peace, and human values. He paid tribute to the 14th Dalai Lama and extended special greetings to the attendees, including monks, students, educators, and dignitaries. Education, according to the Minister, is a universal force that transcends boundaries, languages, and religions, underscoring that peace and progress are sustained through education and human values.
The Karnataka government’s dedication to inclusive education was highlighted by Bangarappa, who outlined various welfare schemes provided by the School Education Department. These initiatives include mid-day meals, milk, eggs, ragi malt, free textbooks, notebooks, uniforms, shoes, and socks for students. Notably, around 1.16 crore students in government, aided, and private schools benefit from the state’s education system.
Furthermore, the Minister announced the reintroduction of “Moral Science” as a mandatory subject from the upcoming academic year. This move aims to reinforce human values, civic duties, health awareness, environmental consciousness, and ethical living among students. During the event, Bangarappa recognized and honored officials, educators, and supporters for their significant contributions to education and community service.
