Amid a leadership dispute in Karnataka involving Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar, state Home Minister G. Parameshwara expressed hope for a promotion this year. He mentioned that the decision rests with the Congress high command. Parameshwara’s statement gains significance as he is seen as a potential Chief Ministerial candidate if leadership changes occur.
Parameshwara, a senior Dalit leader, indicated that a promotion could materialize in 2026 if approved by the high command. He emphasized the importance of ambition in human life, drawing parallels with his own political aspirations. The minister highlighted that his career progression has always been subject to the high command’s discretion.
When asked about the party’s internal situation, Parameshwara responded by noting media observations and analyses. He also addressed concerns about rising theft cases, suggesting the possible involvement of organized teams from outside the state. The minister highlighted recent promotions of IPS officers, praising their training and expressing expectations for their service to the state.
Parameshwara mentioned the allocation of Rs 350 crore by the Centre for police department modernization, expressing gratitude for the initiative. He underscored the department’s efforts towards modernization and the positive impact expected from this development.
