Karnataka Lokayukta recently conducted raids on various government officials’ residences and offices in multiple districts of Karnataka. The raids were carried out following complaints of corruption and allegations of amassing assets disproportionate to their income. These searches were part of investigations into cases of disproportionate assets involving four government officers in different Lokayukta Police Stations across Bagalakote, Vijayapura, Karwar, and Raichuru districts.
During the simultaneous searches at more than 17 locations, it was revealed that the total value of disproportionate assets acquired by these officials amounted to Rs 19.20 crore. The targeted government officers included Shamasundar Maruthi Kamble, Mallappa Hanamanthappa Yarazari, Maruthi Yashwanth Malvi, and D Vijayalakshmi, holding various positions in different districts.
The raids uncovered significant assets belonging to these officials. For instance, searches at Shamasundar Maruthi Kamble’s locations in Bagalakote district led to the discovery of assets worth Rs 2.04 crore, including houses and jewels. Similarly, Mallappa Hanamanthappa Yarazari’s properties in Vijayapura district revealed immovable assets worth Rs 1.71 crore, along with movable assets like jewels.
In Karwar district, searches at Maruthi Yashwanth Malvi’s properties unveiled assets valued at Rs 9.17 crore, comprising sites, houses, and a commercial complex. Meanwhile, in Raichuru district, assets worth Rs 3.68 crore were found at locations linked to D. Vijayalakshmi, including sites, houses, agricultural land, and movable assets.
