Karnataka Minister Satish Jarkiholi, associated with Congress Working Committee Member Siddaramaiah, has refuted claims of aspiring for the Chief Minister position within the state Congress Committee. Speaking at a press conference in Bengaluru, he emphasized that his interest in the KPCC president role did not signify a bid for Chief Minister candidacy.
Jarkiholi addressed various topics including cabinet responsibilities, party dynamics, and future leadership speculations in Karnataka. He dismissed rumors of being overlooked for the KPCC president post, attributing the decision to the party’s adherence to a “one man, one post” principle, particularly when D.K. Shivakumar assumed the role.
Responding to comparisons with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, Jarkiholi highlighted that becoming KPCC president is not a prerequisite for the Chief Minister position. He expressed his desire for both ministerial and KPCC roles, suggesting that insistence could have led to the presidency.
The Minister, when questioned about potential Chief Minister candidature in 2028, maintained a wait-and-see approach, mentioning the possibility of B.K. Hariprasad’s leadership. Jarkiholi also discussed departmental allocations under Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and anticipated further ministerial appointments in his district.
