Responding to the BJP’s protest demanding his resignation over an alleged scam, Karnataka’s Excise Minister R.B. Timmapur stated that he would not step down and would address the issue in the Legislative Assembly. Despite the BJP’s continued agitation, Timmapur affirmed that he would provide clarifications during the session.
The BJP’s Karnataka unit intensified its demand for Timmapur’s resignation by disrupting the Assembly proceedings and staging a protest. Leader of the Opposition R. Ashoka raised concerns about videos allegedly implicating the minister and officials in a significant scam worth Rs 2,500 crore, questioning the Chief Minister’s potential involvement.
Accusing the government of corruption, Ashoka highlighted liquor vendors’ complaints reaching national leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi. The BJP’s protest, led by Ashoka and BJP State President B.Y. Vijayendra, emphasized the alleged misuse of funds for election campaigns in other states, vowing to continue until Timmapur resigns.
