Karnataka Police have apprehended Ullas Gowda, the main suspect in a case involving the alleged dissemination of a young woman’s private images and videos, believed to have led to her and her parents’ tragic deaths by suicide in Mysuru district. The incident took place in Halekempayyanahundi village in T. Narasipura taluk, where the victims, identified as Rakshita, her father Shivanna, and mother Nagaratna, reportedly consumed poison.

Authorities revealed that the family members took their lives after private photos and videos of Rakshita were purportedly shared. The Varuna Police Station registered the case following the tragic event. Ullas Gowda, who was acquainted with the family and suspected of circulating the material to disrupt Rakshita’s impending marriage, fled after the incident, prompting a search operation led by Mysuru Superintendent of Police Mallikarjun Baladandi.

A specialized team, under the leadership of Inspectors Dhananjay and Shivananda Shetty, successfully located and arrested Ullas Gowda in Mysuru. Subsequently, he was presented before a court and remanded to judicial custody. Investigations are ongoing to determine how the accused obtained the private content and to address the family’s allegations of severe harassment towards Rakshita.

The tragic deaths have sparked public outcry in the village, with residents protesting and demanding swift action against the accused. The situation escalated as protesters obstructed authorities from conducting post-mortem examinations and other legal procedures until Ullas Gowda was dealt with. Police have initiated a thorough inquiry to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the alleged involvement of the suspect in the distressing incident.

In a separate distressing event in the district, a 65-year-old garment trader in Mandya district reportedly took the lives of his wife and son before ending his own, citing financial struggles linked to debts, loan pressures, and business setbacks related to the state’s free bus travel scheme. The deceased were identified as Prabhakar (65), Jyothi (55), and Santosh (28).

In another unfortunate incident, a 27-year-old man in the district resorted to violence due to mounting debts, resulting in the tragic deaths of his mother and sister, along with injuries to his nephew. Mohan Gowda allegedly committed the acts, which claimed the lives of Asha (55) and Varshita (34) and harmed Varshita’s 11-year-old son Mayank.
