Karnataka Home Minister Priyank Kharge announced a significant victory for the state police as Bengaluru City Police uncovered an inter-state drug trafficking ring, confiscating banned narcotics valued at Rs 30.43 crore. The seized items included 29 kg of MDMA, 20 grams of cocaine, and 1,000 ecstasy tablets in a series of well-coordinated operations.
A total of five cases have been filed, leading to the arrest of eight individuals, including a foreign national, in connection with the illicit activities. In one operation under the Hebbal Police Station’s jurisdiction, 17.282 kg of MDMA worth Rs 17.28 crore was seized, with investigations ongoing to trace the network’s inter-state connections.
The Central Crime Branch’s Anti-Narcotics Wing also made a significant bust, recovering 6.718 kg of MDMA and 20 grams of cocaine valued at Rs 7.15 crore. Four suspects were apprehended in this case, with authorities delving into the drug’s origins and the financial channels supporting the trafficking.
At Girinagar Police Station, officers intercepted 5 kg of MDMA and 1,000 ecstasy tablets valued at Rs 6 crore. Minister Kharge emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug networks in Karnataka, enforcing a strict “zero-tolerance” policy against narcotics.
Police units statewide are collaborating closely to combat drug syndicates, with a particular focus on inter-state and international operations. The Home Minister highlighted the recent surge in drug-related arrests and seizures, urging public support, especially from parents and educational institutions, to combat drug abuse effectively.
