Karnataka Police have initiated legal action regarding the elopement of a college girl with a Muslim man in Mangaluru. The FIR was filed after the girl’s parents reported her missing and sought police help to locate her. The woman, identified as 23-year-old Vaishali from Kasargod district, Kerala, had entered a registered marriage with Mohammad Midlaj on January 31.
Vaishali, a student in Surathkal, Karnataka, was residing in a PG hostel before eloping with Mohammad Midlaj. The marriage was officially registered at the Wayanad sub-registrar’s office in Kerala. Concerned parents discovered her disappearance when they visited her hostel and found CCTV footage of her leaving on February 9. Subsequently, they reported her missing to the Surathkal police, leading to the registration of an FIR and ongoing investigation.
Efforts are underway to locate Vaishali and understand the circumstances surrounding the case. In a separate incident, a woman from Kolkata filed a complaint against her husband, Syed Imtiyaz of Bengaluru, accusing him of deceitfully converting her to Islam, marrying her, and abandoning her post-childbirth.
