The Karnataka government has reached out to the Centre regarding a student from the state who has gone missing in California, USA. Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh has written to Vikram Misri, Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs, seeking urgent assistance. The missing student, Mr. Saketh Sreenivasaiah, a Master of Science program enrollee at the University of California, Berkeley, has been untraceable since February 12, 2026.

Shalini Rajneesh highlighted the distressing situation in her letter, emphasizing the need for immediate action. Despite a formal complaint filed with the Berkeley Police Department, Mr. Saketh’s whereabouts remain unknown. The family’s mounting anxiety has prompted the Karnataka government to request intervention and support from the Ministry of External Affairs.

The student’s family had initially sought help from the Karnataka government after his disappearance. Saketh’s father, Sreenivasiah, revealed that his son went missing from Berkeley, with his housemate exhausting all search efforts before involving the police. Pursuing a Master of Science degree at the University of California, Saketh’s sudden disappearance has left his family deeply concerned. They urge Indian authorities to assist in locating him and provide necessary support during this challenging period.
