The Kazakhstan senior men’s hockey team is currently in India for a high-performance training camp at the Sports Authority of India Northern Regional Centre in Sonipat, Haryana, from March 10 to 21. This camp, held at a top hockey training facility in India, provides Kazakhstan with excellent synthetic turf, advanced conditioning facilities, and a competitive environment to prepare for the upcoming Asian Games Qualifiers 2026.
The initiative aligns with the vision of the Government of India, the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports (MYAS), and the Sports Authority of India to establish the country as a global sporting excellence hub by hosting and supporting international teams. Kazakhstan coach Olga Urmanova expressed satisfaction with the training in India, highlighting the high standard of hockey in the country and the valuable learning experience for their team.
Urmanova mentioned that they have engaged in friendly matches against local teams at SAI Sonipat, praising the high level of competition which is crucial for their preparation. Grateful for the support from Hockey India, she emphasized the importance of the training opportunities provided and expressed confidence in Kazakhstan’s aim to perform strongly in the Asian Games Qualifiers 2026.
Ranked 55th globally, Kazakhstan has made notable progress in recent years, showcasing their potential at various international tournaments.
