Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, the Kerala government has decided to postpone board examinations in Middle East centers for Indian expatriate students. State General Education Minister V. Sivankutty announced the postponement, citing the challenging security situation in the region. The SSLC examination scheduled for March 5 in Gulf centers and the Higher Secondary examinations set for March 5, 6, and 7 have been deferred due to the prevailing war-like conditions.
The decision to delay the exams was made in light of the growing security concerns and logistical challenges faced by students in the Gulf and Kerala. Flight disruptions and local restrictions arising from the unrest have raised fears among students about reaching examination centers. The General Education Department has assured full support to students during this uncertain period and advised those unable to appear for exams to submit applications promptly through their school authorities.
Revised dates for the postponed examinations will be announced later, ensuring that students’ academic futures are not compromised by the geopolitical developments. Kerala, with a significant expatriate population in the Gulf, conducts board exams for thousands of students in the Middle East annually. The government’s swift intervention aims to safeguard the interests of students in the region and prevent any academic disruptions due to the ongoing crisis.
