Kerala’s Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan criticized the CPI-M-led government for its handling of a sexual assault complaint against former Left MLA P.T. Kunhumuhammed and irregularities in the Global Ayyappa Meet. Satheesan expressed disappointment in the delayed response to the survivor’s complaint, questioning the government’s impartiality in such cases.
He highlighted the swift action taken by the state Congress President in response to a complaint against a party MLA, contrasting it with the delayed handling of complaints against Left-aligned individuals. Satheesan commended the survivor for speaking out and emphasized the importance of supporting women who come forward with such allegations.
Satheesan also raised concerns about the Global Ayyappa Meet, labeling it as a fraudulent event. He alleged financial improprieties, including inflated expenses and false records, and called for a thorough investigation into the alleged misappropriation under the Devaswom Department’s oversight.
