Kerala’s Leader of the Opposition V.D. Satheesan expressed worry about the safety of expelled CPI-M member Kunjikrishnan, who exposed financial irregularities within the ruling party. Satheesan highlighted the threat to Kunjikrishnan’s life after he raised concerns about various funds and alleged irregularities.
Satheesan criticized the CPI-M for swiftly expelling Kunjikrishnan instead of investigating the allegations he brought forward. The Opposition leader emphasized the urgency in protecting whistleblowers and ensuring a fair examination of their claims.
The situation escalated into violence in Payyannur, with protests turning aggressive and Congress workers being attacked. Satheesan condemned the intimidation tactics used against Kunjikrishnan and called for a transparent investigation into the allegations.
Satheesan demanded that Kunjikrishnan’s complaint be handed over to the police for an impartial inquiry. He underscored the need for the state police to guarantee Kunjikrishnan’s safety, highlighting the broader issue of protecting whistleblowers in Kerala’s political landscape.
