In a recent address to the media in Thiruvananthapuram, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly, V.D. Satheesan, expressed confidence in the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) swift and unified candidate selection process. Satheesan highlighted that all 140 UDF candidates were announced smoothly, emphasizing the cohesive nature of the coalition as “Team UDF.”
Acknowledging the need for temporary compromises with allies like the Kerala Congress, Satheesan defended the inclusive and consensus-driven approach taken during the selection process. He clarified that the slight delay in releasing the Congress list was due to the party’s structured and consultative decision-making process, overseen by senior leaders.
Satheesan criticized certain media outlets for spreading false narratives and creating divisions within the party through fabricated stories. He refuted claims of internal rifts within the Congress, particularly dismissing reports of his alleged resignation threats as unfounded. Satheesan reaffirmed that the UDF is poised to secure over 100 seats in the upcoming elections, fueled by strong public support for change.
