Hollywood actor Kevin Spacey has settled with three men who accused him of sexual assault, thereby avoiding a civil trial in London scheduled for October. The men claimed the assaults occurred between 2000 and 2013. Spacey, who denied all allegations, faced a new trial after being acquitted of similar charges in a U.K. criminal trial in 2023.
Details of the settlement remain undisclosed. Two of the men filed civil cases at London’s High Court after the criminal trial. One of the accusers, granted anonymity by the court, stated he suffered psychiatric damage and financial loss due to an alleged assault in August 2008. Another man accused Spacey of assaulting him multiple times between 2000 and 2005.
Ruari Cannon, the third accuser, publicly identified himself and alleged that Spacey groped him at a 2013 party while working at the Old Vic. Cannon’s claims were featured in the 2024 Channel 4 docuseries ‘Spacey Unmasked,’ to which Spacey responded by asserting his innocence whenever given the opportunity to defend himself.
Spacey also faced a lawsuit in New York civil court in 2022 from actor Anthony Rapp over similar assault allegations.
