Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju supported the decision to include Nationalist Citizens Party of India (NCPI) members in the all-party meeting before the Monsoon Session of Parliament. He mentioned that while the Opposition could walk out, it was not right to exclude 20 elected Members of Parliament from discussions.
The INDIA bloc staged a walkout from the meeting due to the presence of NCPI members, a rebel faction of the Trinamool Congress. Rijiju explained that the boycott was temporary and formal, respecting the right of parties to express their views.
Rijiju emphasized the importance of the 20 NCPI Lok Sabha MPs who had requested to join the new party and sit separately in Parliament. He highlighted that the matter was under the Speaker’s consideration and stated that the government had invited all parties without any special invitation to the NCPI.
According to Rijiju, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh urged political parties to collaborate in the national interest, especially given global uncertainties from the West Asia conflict. He emphasized the need for constructive discussions during the Monsoon Session to benefit democracy and the country.
