Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), three-time champions, have named Dishant Yagnik, former Rajasthan wicketkeeper-batter, as their fielding coach for the upcoming 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Yagnik, known for his fielding expertise, joins KKR’s revamped support staff, which includes Abhishek Nayar as Head Coach, DJ Bravo as Mentor, Shane Watson as Assistant Coach, Tim Southee as Bowling Coach, and Andre Russell as Power Coach, as per a statement by KKR.
Originally from Banswara, Rajasthan, the 43-year-old Yagnik has played 25 IPL matches for Rajasthan Royals between 2011 and 2014. Over his 13-year domestic career, he participated in 50 first-class, 41 List A, and 56 T20 matches. Yagnik, who retired from playing, has previously served as a fielding coach for Rajasthan Royals and is currently coaching the Jammu & Kashmir senior men’s team in the ongoing domestic cricket season.
In the previous IPL auction in Abu Dhabi, KKR made significant acquisitions, including securing Cameron Green for Rs 25.2 crore, making him the costliest overseas player in IPL history. However, due to a new IPL regulation, Green’s earnings will be limited to Rs 18 crore, with the excess amount directed to the BCCI’s player welfare fund. KKR also added Matheesha Pathirana and several other players to their squad during the auction.
